Pesticides Test

Pesticides are chemicals used to control the growth of unwanted weeds, plants, insects, algae, etc. Pesticides can enter water courses and private drinking water wells as a result of agricultural and non-agricultural use. The Drinking Water Regulations define Pesticides as including organic insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, nematocides, acaricides, algicides, rodenticides, slimicides, including their relevant metabolites, degradation and reaction products.

Pesticide levels are tested in public water supplies, in large group water schemes and in wells supplying public / commercial buildings.

Pesticides are not tested in private house wells, unless the owner decides to do so.

In Ireland the most commonly found individual pesticide in drinking water supplies are

  • Glyphosate (active ingredient in weedkillers)
  • MCPA
  • 2,4-D
  • Mecoprop
  • Clopyralid

This test will check your water for the presence of these five pesticides in your water.

The sample kit contains a 250ml amber glass bottle and a 40ml amber glass vial and instructions on how to take your drinking water sample properly. Once the sample is taken, post or deliver the bottles back to us on the same day.

A Certificate of Analysis will be sent to you with your water test results along with an information sheet on understanding your results.
